Believing that the early years of a child’s life are crucial ones for developing faith and learning trust, confidence, and self-esteem, Dellwood Baptist Church offers a Christian based child care program. The 5-star licensed center serves 75 children ages one through twelve with low staff to child ratios in year round daycare, as well as, after school and summer camp care. The curricula for all ages follow creative plans complete with daily devotions. Visits from the pastors are a special treat for the children. The Child Enrichment Center doors open at 7:00 a.m. and close at 6:00 p.m.
Children age one to kindergarten are divided into four separate classrooms. A typical day for these youngsters may include “centers” or free time, group time (reading, singing, and crafts), outside play, and nap time. Breakfast, lunch, and snacks are provided. Each classroom has its own outside play area, so the children are not tempted by play equipment inappropriate for their age.
After school care serves children in kindergarten through age twelve. The children are provided snacks, homework supervision, and playtime. In addition to “centers”, group time, and outside play, summer camp activities for the school age children include trips off campus. Recent trips include bowling, hiking, and visits to the Nature Center in Asheville and the movie theater in Cherokee.
