The Deacons meet the first Sunday of every month at 6:15 p.m.
Twelve church members serve in the office of Deacon at Dellwood Baptist Church. Deacons are considered servants of the church and are organized to assist the pastors in the spiritual well being of the church, as well as, assist with temporal matters. Together the pastors and deacons visit members who are shut-in at home, in assisted living, or in the hospital. The pastors and deacons discuss problems and needs, make plans, discuss difficulties and opportunities, and maintain cordial relations among members. The Deacons make recommendations to the church in all matters pertaining to its work and progress, maintain observance of ordinances, and have oversight of the discipline of the church. The Deacons’ specific duties as outlined in the By-Laws of Dellwood Baptist Church include: 1) zealously guard the unity of the spirit of the church; 2) serve as a council of advice and conference with the pastors in all matters pertaining to the welfare and the work of the church; 3) along with the pastors, oversee the spiritual building of the church; 4) make monthly reports and present recommendations to the church in its regular business meetings; and 5) assume the duties of the pastor with regard to business matters in the absence of the pastors.
